she stared down at the shimmering water below, a mirage of a mosaic glistening up at her. in her head, she's counting off the seconds she has left before it's too late. the water looks inviting, yet looming with mysteries. for we can plan what comes right after our actions, yet who can predict the consequences that occur weeks after, or months? just like the water that lay before her,


rapid changes of a teen heart.october 25th, 2009. is everyone's life meant to feel complete at one point? or is it always just misleading happiness while that one hole in our hearts long to be filled? rarely are humans ever completely happy, and even that can't last forever. we should just try to make things last as long as we can, because every second longer makes life more worthwhile. we need friends, family, love, and more... yet these things weigh differently on everyone's heads. maybe life can never be perfect, but it's our jobt o make the most of it. a strong smile can pull one out from their darkest holes, and one glare can send someone riveting and diving barapid changes of a teen heart.


snapshot.delicate, yet so magnificent. as i watched its rosy petals unfurl, i could smell the sweet aromas wafting into my nose. the name of this flower i knew not, but its beauty was undeniable. the petals continued to open, revealing the honey yellow center. a plump bumblebee flew into view and landed gently in the middle. no doubt it had sensed this phenomenon as well. just seconds before, this flower had been insignificant, yet once the powers of nature took its course, its hidden colors slowly revealed themselves. i held up my camera, staring intently at the screen, waiting for the right moment. after drawn-out moments of anticipation, i finallysnapshot.

A teenage girl stared at the journal she had been keeping over the past year or two. Littered throughout the pages were poems and stories of loss, suffering, and giving up. Each one seemed the same, reflecting how dark her thoughts had become. The room in which she sat in was dim as well, the curtains were barely open, and the lights were off. Yet she preferred it this way, because it was her own room after all. And she liked the dark - her thoughts could gather easily, but sometimes memories would annoyingly show themselves when she didn't want them present. Her father had died two years
